Welcome to the latest series from Inside eBiz: Six Steps to Sharing Your Inner Passion with the World.

Making the decision to share what you're passionate about, through your own online business, can be a life-changing moment. Six Steps to Sharing Your Inner Passion with the World takes a look at the foundational steps that will help you achieve personal online business success.

“Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.”

Thomas Jefferson

Welcome to the conclusion to Six Steps to Sharing Your Inner Passion with the World. I hope the series has taught you a nugget or two about the fundamental principles for building a successful online business.

In this conclusion, we're going to talk about the most important factor that will determine your success or failure for your online business.

First, in case you missed them, here are the links to the previous steps.

Step 1: Know Thyself

This is the very foundation of your business. Understand what you’re passionate about, what your strengths are, and what you have to offer the world. Then package your offerings as a brand.

Step 2: Passions and Problems

After you know your brand and what it stands for, find the intersection between who you really are, and the problems and desires of a market. Then, find a need and fill it.

Step 3: Build Your Platform

Using WordPress, create your main platform—your website—and offer content and solutions based on your personal brand and message.

Step 4: Spread the Word

Develop a marketing and content creation strategy to let your target market know who you are, how you’re different, and what you have to offer them.

Step 5: Provide Solutions Worth Investing In

Provide valuable products that people in your market are wanting to invest in. Satisfy a need they have, move them along their journey, and get them closer to their goals.

Step 6: Listen and Respond

To grow your business, keep the relationships going and the communication lines open with your prospects and customers. Listen and respond to their feedback, so that you can serve them better now and in the future.

Standing at starting line

The first step's the hardest.

No Perfect Moment

So what's the most important element that will determine the success or failure of your online business? The element that will determine your level of success in everything you do? In one word: ACTION!

You must begin, you must take that first step and keep moving along your journey. Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment to start your journey. That time will never come. Take action!

Believe me, you’ll make the most progress by doing. Not by researching, not by preparing, but by taking action.

Forget about perfection—you will make mistakes. And if you’re going to grow and learn, you must make mistakes. So don’t look at your mistakes as obstacles that set you back, but rather, see them as stepping stones along your journey to a higher ground.

Know that you don't have to get everything right at the beginning—you can always adjust and make changes—nothing is set in stone. It’s your life—you get to choose the path you take. Learn from your mistakes, your customers, your industry, and adjust course.

“What you are is what you have been. What you'll be is what you do now.”

Patience and Hard Work Required

Unless you’re just doing this purely for fun or as a hobby, it’s important that you see your online business as a real business. This doesn’t mean that you need to lead a life of all work and no play! Rather, on the contrary, it’s important that you enjoy what you’re doing and are passionate about it.

But please don’t expect overnight success—it’s not going to happen. If you’re serious about this, you’re going to be in it for the long haul. But if you pick a good market, have good offerings, and work hard to get your message out to the world, you will be successful.

And because you’re going to be in this for the long run, aim to create something bigger than yourself, something beyond just the desire to make a buck. Aim to make a meaningful difference, for both your life and the life of those you serve. Do something that truly inspires you and energizes you to get up each morning. Find your inner passion and leave a legacy you’re proud of!

Enjoy the Journey

Two boys walking path

Life is about the journey and the process.

Creating a successful business can be an extremely rewarding experience, but it can be a long road to get there. That’s why it’s important to enjoy the journey. Take the time to enjoy the day-to-day moments. Take time to rest and care for yourself. And reward yourself for the milestones you achieve.

Life is a journey, not an end goal. You’ll find true happiness when you’re doing what you love every day. Find where your passion intersects with the needs of others, and you’ll be truly successful.

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”

Ernest Hemingway
